We’re looking for:

  • An outstanding teammate and friend. We work hard and spend a lot of time together, both inside and outside the office, so we’re looking for someone with a great attitude who cares about the people around them.
  • Strong server-side skills. Django experience is a huge plus, but is not 100% required. If you’re a Rails guru who’s ready to try something new, that’s great too.
  • A tendency toward action and completion. As a start-up, speed is one of our biggest advantages. We deploy code multiple times per day, and our goal is always to launch projects as quickly as we can build something solid, then monitor customer feedback and make adjustments as necessary.
  • A curious developer who takes pride in his/her craft. We strive to build things that we’re proud of, both for users and under the hood. While trying to move fast, we value thoughtful planning, strong architecture, and best practices. We learn from and teach one another every day.
  • Mature judgment and strong communication skills. We are building a product that will serve many thousands of customers over time. In this context, it’s crucial that both developers and other team members understand the tradeoffs between speed and technical debt, so that we can make wise choices that balance immediate needs and longer-term investments.

Our technology stack consists of well-established but thoroughly modern technologies:

  • Devops: AWS hosting, Ansible, Jenkins
  • Server-side: PostgreSQL, Django/Python (99% of all server-side development), Node.js + Express (server-side HTML5 canvas rendering), Celery
  • Client-side: Coffeescript, RequireJS, Backbone.js, HTML5 canvas (used heavily, extended Fabric.js implementation)
  • Deep Facebook Graph API integration
